Dr. Effi (Efthimia) Staiou is currently teaching in the Industrial Engineering Department at Yaşar University. She is a Mechanical Engineer graduated from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. She holds a M.Sc. in Operations Management from the University of Manchester (UMIST), UK and a Ph.D. in Quality Management in Software Development, from the University of Macedonia, Greece. In the past, she has worked on TQM issues in small businesses, served as a consultant in Quality Management Systems development, according to ISO 9000 Series of Standards, for small and medium businesses and has worked as a Quality Director in a Software House for several years. She has also worked as a lecturer in the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Western Macedonia, Greece. Her working experience covers both the private and the public sector. In Yasar University she teaches the courses on Quality Assurance & Reliability and Engineering Economics, during the Fall Semester and Engineering Cost Analysis, Statistics and Total Quality Management, during the Spring Semester. Her research interests deal with Total Quality Management, Quality Assurance Systems, TQM in Higher Education and Industry-Academia collaboration. She is interested in sports (sailing, ski, tennis, squash), literature, and music.
